Provendola Bakery, officially founded in Romagnese in 1940, represents an important part of the traditional manufacturing history in Lombardia. Since its opening, four generations of bakers have succeeded one another, carrying forward the dedication and passion for the family business. In 2021, this effort has been recognized by the Region of Lombardia which has awarded the Provendola Bakery as a historic shop, a title reserved for those activities which have not only stood the test of time, but have also significantly contributed to the history and culture of the territory.
Among the bakery's specialties, the sabiosa cake undoubtedly stands out, a dessert with a fascinating history and a unique flavour. The recipe for this cake, in fact, was donated in the 1930s by a rich Turin family to Mrs. Dina, who worked as a nurse for their children. It was only thanks to the initiative of grandmother Maria that the savory cake officially went into production in the Provendola Bakery in 1957. Since then, it has become the shop's signature product. Despite the passing of the years, the secret of its preparation remains jealously guarded, handed down from generation to generation, helping to make every bite a journey into tradition and authenticity.
Today, like in the past, the Provendola Bakery continues to be a point of reference for the local community and visitors, offering not only quality products, but also a piece of history and culture.
